The Love Circle Foundation was founded in 2015 by writer, actor, producer, and Grammy-nominated musician Tyrese Gibson. A nationally recognized advocate for young people, Gibson has been deeply involved in the community since early in his career, acting as an ambassador and partner to organizations like Operation Hope, Communities in Schools, and UNICEF.
A native of Watts, California, Gibson has been particularly committed to giving back to his own community. In partnership with the Taco Bell Foundation and Get Schooled, Gibson donated $25,000 to his alma mater of Locke High School, one of the most underserved schools in the Watts community. This contribution was critical in giving Locke students the resources necessary to graduate from high school. For the last two years, Gibson partnered with WE Day to inspire millions of young people during the televised WE Day global event.
In 2000, Gibson started the Watts Foundation with the goal of increasing direct services to the young men and women of Watts, California. The foundation has since evolved into The Love Circle Foundation, and continues this early vision. Through its annual Walk A Mile In My Shoes community drives, I AM A MAN empowerment retreats, and an eventual brick & mortar center for Watts’ young people, The Love Circle Foundation is helping more people dream beyond their current reality, and become better versions of themselves.
